its a HP premium sterio headset w/ mic and there are two jacks..one for headphones and one for the mic part...but i cant plug in both in my comp cause for some reason it wont reach..anyways. the pink one that is for the mic, i put it in the pink spot on the back of my comp and recorded sound and nothing came out..the microphone volume is on too and this is a brand new mic set..i got it yesterday..what is wrong?

It's probably muted in your sound options. It's almost always muted by default. If you have the little icon of a yellow speaker in your system tray, right click on that. If not, use control panel.

In your task bar on the screen, click on the volume icon and see if the mute is checked, if it is, uncheck it, also double click on the volume and check the other controls as well.
