I started at 11
but I think at least 13 is a good age to start staying home alone because your more responsible at that age, and by then you know all the rules and what can happen

i was about 8 or 9
i think 11 is a good age because every time a fed-x man would come to the door, i'd take the phone and hide under the computer desk and cover myself with a blanket and call my mom, and if she didnt answer i'd be ready to call 9-1-1. I obviously was too young at 8 if i freaked out over the fed-x man.

9 (third grade) I think it was way too early. Not b/c I was irresponsible - but b/c I think kids need an adult to come home to. They need someone to talk to and the be there for them - they don't need to come home and do chores and be by themselves. I think that being alone occasionaly is fine at a certian point but it depends on the kid. But for every day I think mom or dad should be there even into the teen years.

I think that 12 is the best age, but it is legal at 11.
