I dont know about growing from seed. The best way is to get a cutting from another tree and plant it with two buds below the soil (these will sprout roots) and two buds above the soil (these will become brances). This way you know that you are getting a productive variety and you will have fruit much sooner than growing by seed.

I live in England and I would advise that you grow the absolutely fabulous dwarf pomegranate ---Punica granatum nana. You can obtain the seeds from any decent supplier try Chiltern seeds online.
Sow a seed individually in coffee pots, place in heated propagator and the seeds will germinate in Spring and next year it will flower and each year after that also. It grows Ok in here in north of England so anywhere warmer it should grow twice as fast.
Best of luck
