I have had my computer for almost a year now and it is getting slower and slower. I have saved all my important information. What is the best way to start all over again?

Most laptops have a restore CD you can boot to that should give you an option to restore to factory settings.

Usually, most computers come with a recovery disk. When you put in this recovery cd, you can reinstall the entire operating system, which pretty much deletes all the information you have on there and resets it to the way it was when you first bought it (the only software you will have left is the ones that came with the computer).

However, if you don't have a recovery cd (or lost it), you can contact Microsoft, and they'll probably send you a free recovery cd for either Windows XP or Windows Vista.

But be careful, because you won't be able to revert back once you've reinstalled everything.

Did you get any restore cd's with your laptop? If you did, just pop in the cd's when your PC is starting up. If you don't have any restore cd's, go to your computers manufacturers site and go buy 1 because you may end up using it a lot.

the best way is to boot from the CD that came with it (that should have a copy of your operating system on it).

this will guide you through the steps of wiping the hard disk drive and installing a fresh copy of Windows.

It will essentially restore it back to the way it was when you initially purchased it.
