As Tommy Collins was one of the developers of the "Bakersfield Sound"( made famous by Buck Owens) Tommy used an upbeat honky tonk sound with some catchy lyrics.
Tommy Collins(aka Leonard Sipes) had the company of such artist as Wynn Stewart and Ferlin Husky. And he was an influence on the likes of Merle Haggard,Buck Owens,
.Other notables such as Johnny Cash,Mel Tillis,George Strait recorded his music.
Tommy Collins died in march of 2000.
So with his style and influence he definatly deserves a place in the Hall Of Fame.

Well quite naturally I am biased and I believe he should be. Just for example check out the Bear Family set or BMI.com and see the number of great songs he has written and recorded. You could also ask Merle Haggard and I believe he would agree that Tommy as well as some others including the late Wynn Stewart should have been inducted long ago.

On Edit: I can think of some others Ferlin Husky, Stonewall Jackson, Mel Street but I just wonder if it will ever happen.

Absolutely. I think his songwriting contributions to country music speak volumes for him. From "Carolyn" by Merle Haggard to Rose Maddox's "Down Down Down" to Faron Young's "If You Ain't Lovin' (Then You Ain't Livin')," to his work with the Farmer Boys (I got to ask him about them when I met him at the Opry) and his own career, he covered country music's great era. And, of course, when someone else does a song about you (Haggard's "Leonard"), you're obviously important in music.

Isn't a Tom Collins a mixed drink? Would a Tommy be without the booze?
