For years I've thought it odd that homosexual men are called "gay" but homosexual women are called "Lesbian" [complete with a capital letter].

Since "Lesbians" derives from the Isle of Lesbos, which is considered the cradle of female homosexuality, I think that men should call themselves "Grecians" as a derivation of Greece -- most decidedly the cradle of male homosexuality.

What say you?

More specifically, I would say Thebans.

The Sacred Band of Thebes was composed of male soldiers and their lovers. It was believed that lovers in battle would fight more fiercely and be more invincible than soldiers who didn’t have a bond. This concept was according to Plato’s Symposium.

Actually, Lesbian with a capital letter is not a homosexual woman, it is someone from the Isle of Lesbos, or the Aeolic Greek dialect (also known as the Lesbian Greek dialect) . If you're referring to a homosexual female, lesbian is not capitalised.
