How old are you Billy? It's not uncommon for teens and young adults to experience anxiety and disassociate disorder, where things feel surreal. I experienced this myself as a teen.
You may also be experiencing hormonal fluctuations, depending on your age, which could influence your mood.
I would suggest finding a psychologist who you feel comfortable with and who is qualified to make a diagnosis. This may or may not be part of normal growing up and the hardships that go with that.
Lastly, consider giving up artificial colors, flavors, preservatives and artificial sweeteners for a little while and see if you feel better.

well, if this is a disorder, ive had it too. the way i got over the huge and overwhelming feelings of dissatisfaction, depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, etc was to really WORK on my life. i am now in my mid fiftys and i feel for the first time like my life is 'in balance'. (sure hope it doesnt take YOU that long to get straightened out!)
I try every day to bring just ONE bit of satisfaction into my life. yeah, i still remember the really s.hitty things that happened to me and what was done to me but ive managed to move past that by saying 'ok, thats past and i cant change it but what i CAN control is what goes down from here on out'.
ive felt like i dont have enough good friends to hang with my entire life so i really missed a lot of fun stuff. now, i still feel like i need good friends but i am determined NOT to miss out on the really good things that i like. this year, i made it my business to get out to shows, concerts, and vacations whether or not anyone else goes with me or not. you may say, 'now how much fun can that be?' well, i REALLY like music, movies, and vacations so why should i miss all that cause most of the few friends i have are further out or have other things to do? this one aspect has made a 100% turnaround in my life. think hard and i am sure you will know how to bring pure fun and joy back to you. good luck

My sister has something that sounds like your problem: Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. She has occasionally had suicidal thoughts and seems to get upset about little things. Along with being "randomly depressed" she has fears of germs, and fears of leaving the house without everything she needs. This leads to checking everything to make sure things are in their proper place. And yes, whenever she is around friends, she feels better about herself and is less "OCDish". She has found that helping out in the community has helped her a lot, like visiting an old folks home, or helping in church cleaning and stuff like that. She has had lots of medications in the past (zoloft, paxel, prozac) all antidepressants, I think. I think you should go to a doctor about it if you become to worried about it. Also, talk to your family about it.

Criteria for a Depressive Episode
* Five or more of the following symptoms have been present during the same 2-week period and represent a change from previous functioning; at least one of the symptoms is either (1) depressed mood or (2) loss of interest or pleasure.
1. Depressed mood most of the day, nearly every day, as indicated by either subjective report (e.g., feels sad or empty) or observation made by others (e.g. appears tearful). In children and adolescents, can be irritable mood.
2. Markedly diminished interest or pleasure in all, or almost all, activities most of the day, nearly every day (as indicated by either subjective account or observation made by others).
3. Significant weight loss when not dieting or weight gain (e.g., a change of more than 5% of body weight in a month), or decrease or increase in appetite nearly every day. Note: In children, consider failure to make expected weight gains.
4. Insomnia or hypersomnia [too much sleep] nearly every day.
5. Psychomotor agitation or retardation [Twitchy muscles or slowness in coordination] nearly every day (observable by others, not merely subjective feelings of restlessness or being slowed down).
6. Fatigue or loss of energy nearly every day.
7. Feelings of worthlessness or excessive or inappropriate guilt (which may be delusional) nearly every day (not merely self-reproach or guilt about being sick).
8. Diminished ability to think or concentrate, or indecisiveness, nearly every day (either by subjective account or as observed by others).
9. Recurrent thoughts of death (not just fear of dying), recurrent suicidal ideation without a specific plan, or a suicide attempt or a specific plan for committing suicide.

Billy, you sound like you could be bipolar. You should see a doctor and so he can get you the antidepressant and/or counseling that you might need. Good Luck!

Just asking the question points to the clue that you have a disorder. I would talk to my doctor if I were you.

Well, the first step it to identify the problem, which you have. Talk to a counselor at school first. If they think you need further help, find a doctor. Please, no one can help you until you help yourself! I will be praying for you! God bless.
