Now the NRA are going after New Orleans police saying they violated peoples rights by collecting loose weapons after Katrina. For us people in other countries the Americans obsession about guns is unbelievable. You care more about guns than you do Human Rights, more than racial predudice,in fact pretty much more than anything else. All a gun does is kill you, more innocent people than guilty ones. Please don't quote the "The Right to bear arms" You can take that right away from people with a criminal record,so it is not concrete or unalterable, except when it seems to suit lawmakers.......

yes and no, yes because what GOOD comes out of owning a gun? There is no good. I have not heard on the news anyone saved by a gun, just killed.
No because I really dont know why avarage people need guns. Bad guys have them yes, but they get them from stealing from the average person or steals, buy them in stores. The largest % of people killed in my city was guns that did it. All summer 1-3 people were killed everyday by guns. Guns protect? I dont thinks so. Oh, 7 people were killed in a mall by a gun lately....men and their damn guns

More people own guns than you know. Thousands of them, if not millions of them. Considering that most likely, there are millions of legally owned guns in this country, by law abiding citizens, do the math.

Doing the math will tell you we do not have an alarming problem with guns. If we did, there would be a million shootings in america. The stats show that law abiding citizens owning a million guns in this country is not the problem.

The problem is the couple of hundred thugs on the streets who obtained them illegally & use them to committ crimes, and all the misguided out there screaming at the wrong damn people.

I do not own a gun. I'm also not afraid of an honest guy who does. Heck, I can turn my grandsons hockey stick into a murder weapon if I chose. Shall we ban hockey sticks? Be sensible.

You want to fix the problem? Then jump down your legislators throat to make far stiiffer/longer jail sentences for those who use ANY weapon to committ a crime or inflict injuries.

Sorry you are a bit skewed. We do have the right to protect ourselves and let me just say again and again and again. Guns don't kill. Bad people do. When you start taking away our precious rights, begin to think how many will begin affecting you. Quite frankly, knives kill, so do bow and arrows, as do anything that someone can make into a weapon. Get real or get sane. And you are also clueless about the United States and our Bill of Rights, our Constitution and the way we feel about each other and ourselves. Opine less, read more and actually try to understand what makes our country great instead of forcing your uneducated attitudes on us. Take care of yourself. We seem to have to take care of the world. What has your country done for the world? Katrina was a disaster but we have many of them and we take care of them and this was no different. So again, you have no understanding of our country and what we do and how we take care of our own.

Then only criminals and the gov't would have guns, which is basically the same anyways. The truth is as long as there is a market for them they will be available whether they are illegal are not, that is the way capitalism works. Look at drugs, they are illegal and they are everywhere because people want them. We can't stop the black market.

It will never happen. And quite a few homeowners and business owners have prevented crimes against their properties due to having a gun. And criminals voluntarily give up the right, by not obeying the laws of the land.
