It depends on what you mean by groups. Many species form family groups while raising their young - this is one type of group.

Some species form permanent social groups - this is usually what is meant by a group in ecological science. Some examples of social groups are prairie dogs, prides of African Lions, packs of wolves, and pods of killer whales, ant colonies, and bee hives. What makes them social groups is the existence of organization and cooperation - individuals perform different tasks, and some individuals are leaders.

Flocks of birds, schools of fish, swarms of insects are another type of group, where individuals benefit from remaining together, but there is usually no social structure or organization in these examples.

American lions consist of the mountain lion (also called cougar) in Western and central US, and the Florida panther (also called puma). Cougars are solitary except mating season (when adult males and females are together), and during the period when juveniles are with their mothers.

Mountain lions primarily live in forest environments. Worldwide, lions that live in groups typically live in grasslands and open spaces, and lions that live in forests and jungles are solitary. It doesn't make much sense to be in a large group in a forest or jungle environment because the individual at the front of the group is the only one that will spot prey - prey like deer will run at the first instant they sense a predator, so all of the animals at the back of the group would be just be tagging along without helping.
