The van is a 2000 Olds Silhouette, and after turning them on for a bit and then off, they sometimes stay up and I can't figure out how to make them go down. I don't find anything in the owners manual on it. And they aren't on intermittant when this happens. Thanks for any help.

The control module has a defect.
It is a minor defect and not hazardous.

I have a Dodge van and the wipers turn on sometimes, seemingly at random. It's a known defect in late 90's vintage minivans.

Wiper motor "Park" switch is bad...this switch allows you to turn off the wipers and they will cycle through until they get to the "rest" position at which time, the park switch turns off power. If the park switch is bad, they will "park" anywhere you turn them off. Check with a dealer or repair shop on whether to replace the whole motor or park switch alone.....could be contained in a "module" also.

Try the wiper relay or investigate the switch with an ohm meter.

my truck does the same thing but a little worse than that. mine has something to do with the controls in steering colum. the motor that controls the wipers either work or dosent work.
