oh this is so easy. I got a pair of Ernst Sewn black jeans, $270!! Believe me, nothing was going to fade these!! As with ANY jeans, wash them only when needed! If you can help it, wear some wolford stockings or something like that underneath, this will limit that also, unless you spill something on them!!! I even try to hand wash them as much as possible in the important places haha. When you DO wash them, wash them BY THEMSELVES inside out, cold water, get some color safe NON BLEACH for dark colors detergent. Put them in the dryer at the lowest setting you can and tumble dry, inside out! Some people are saying to hang dry, but honestly, i can't wait a day for them to dry, then they get a little funky smelling too. Just do what I said, you will be looking good in those black jeans forever! Good luck!!!

Wash them inside out, minimal agitation, and use Retayne or something similar for the first wash:

Do not use detergent "with bleach alternative" or any bleaches or laundry additives with bleaching properties (Biz, for instance, has a bleach in it that's particularly easy to spot on the label unless you have some chemistry background)

I agree with "bad2bsad"! Salt sets the colour! Vinegar works too! Especially in the final rinse, instead of fabric softener! Use 1 cup per load! Reduces soap residue, lint and softens too!

Wash them in cold water, using detergents made to protect colors. I would also suggest letting them hang dry and lay them flat to dry.
