Tubal ligations affect the blood flow to the ovaries, and women go into menopause a few years sooner, on average. It's possible that while you're not in menopause (you'd have other symptoms!), your hormone levels have changed a bit, and that's why your period is delayed.

If you were pregnant a pregnancy test should be showing positive by now. You don't say how old you are, but is is possible you are going through menopause? That can start at various ages. If your mother went through early menopause you could be doing the same. If you are very thin it could be caused by that. Often thin women or women who exercise a lot will not have a period. I would say you need to see your doctor.

Illness, stress, weight loss, emotional trauma, etc. can all be cause for missed periods. So far you've only missed one, and the second one is due this week.

Missing one is something that happens to all of us some of the time, and for people like me, I would only get them every-other-month. It's when you start missing 2-3-4 months in a row that there is reason to have your Dr do some checking for other health concerns.

...And most of our families have one "little surprise". They do come along, and we just love them too!
