k basiclty 2 17 year olds killed a 7 year old the7 were sitting ebcause they were imitating mortal combat..... Now...I know this is going to fuel the people who think video games cause violence but my opinion is your old enough to know theres a difference between reality and video games AND if the word "mortal" is in the title chances are you'll hurt some pretty bad by trying to reproduce the moves.....what do you think? Should they have known better? Or is it the manufacturers fault that a 17 year old was not old enough to realize they werent really Sub zero?

personally I feel if you arent smart enough to know your kids are capable of such stupidity....you should be held responsible..not game makers....

You CANNOT blame people who make movies, games, shows and music for things like this..when did parents not become responsible for their childrens actions?

very good question.

I can't believe the amount of people BLAMING others for the actions of their own kids.

It is the responsibility of the parent/s to teach right from wrong to their children.

My question is, this is not ONE but TWO 17 year olds. doesn't that raise some interest? I am more curious how this came about. This is something that prolly could have been foreseen.

I think it makes a great case for therapist and sure, they are going to side with a lot of people and say that it was the makers fault. easy way out. easy to place blame. it always is. accountability is what we are lacking now a days.

here is a star!

not only is this ENTIRELY THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE TEENS, but you should never blame the product of your creation for your behavior, after all you're the one that created it. trying to blame the video game itself is just using it as a scapegoat while ignoring the real problem of parents not communicating with their kids to make sure they know the difference between fictional and actual violence. And let's not forget that this may not have been a 100% preventable situation. They may have been playing and got out of hand. After all, accidents do happen. If your friend tossed you a textbook at school and it missed and gave you a black eye, does that make it "An Introduction to Chemistry" (the book's) fault?

Not the game's fault. Hundreds of millions of kids play aggressive video games. However, the two 17 year olds should be held accountable and tried as adults in a court of law.

I don't think the game-makers are responsible, the 17 year olds are. Not even the parents, people need to use their common sense! The parents, however, should have learned how to raise children or they shouldn't have had any.

They were 17... old enough to know better. In a child that is still learning lifes basic rules to plat that would be dangerous, and they wouldn't know better, but young adults are far beyond that stage. I'm sorry to hear such a young child is dead because of someones stupidity! People know better... if you hit someone really hard... it will hurt. Why can't they understand this concept. Its simple.

just goes to show you some people dont understand the difference between reality and make believe. i like mortal combat too but you wouldnt see me running around with a scarf wrapped around my face throwin chains at people's chests yellin "come here!" but a 17 year old should definitely know better than that.

The subject you touch on has been debated for years and that is the Violence in movies and on TV. Until something is done to combat that, these occurrences will continue.

the kids were stupid. i hate when pppl do that, cuz it causes underestimating of teens & generalizing. those kids were soo stupid & should b severely punished. as long as the game was rated Teen or something, the manufacturers shouldn't be punished. i hate kids like that!!
