Hello, I have received a ticket today. I passed on red light 55 on 40 right in front of a cop. He stopped me, I was extremely nice to him. So he decided to give me a ticket only for passing on a red light. He told me it will only one point on my record. Although DMV Alabama site says it is 3 points. Whom should I believe? I have couple of questions to people who know about tickets.
1. Will it affect my insurance, if yes do you think it is going to be very high? I am 19 living in Alabama.
2. I have looked at ticket and it looks like police officer made a mistake copying my name, twice, last name and my fathers name. I am an international, a lot of people make mistake writing my name. Does ticket still count?. If it doesn't count will that officer be punished for writing my name wrong? Because he was very nice to me, we even shook hands :))). Please answer my questions, and have a blessed day. Happy Holidays

International?

Are you a citizen of the USA?
Was your driving test administered here or in a foreign Country?
Was your driving license transferred from another Country?

The moving violation you noted is 3 points, not 1 point!

The majority of new drivers in the USA start out with points, this allows the insurance companies the ability to surcharge.
Each successful year a new driver avoids a ticket three points are removed.
I believe a new driver start's with 6 points etc...

However, you claim to be international which the latter rule may not apply.
Call your insurance company as soon as possible and explain completely.

USA driving license rules are terrible:
example: A 45 year old decide's to finally get his/her license, when license is received he/she is viewed as a 17year old driver; same rules apply!

Ouch, nicely you be responsive to you shouldnt be dashing yet what's achieved is performed. frequently the decide looks at your previous documents/tickets and makes a selection in line with them. whilst somebody's checklist is obvious the decide will positioned you on supervision and make you pay the great. this suggests that in case you get yet another fee tag interior 6 months you will come lower back to court docket and you gets tougher fines and so on. on your case for the reason which you do have past tickets he could nicely be slightly tougher. you additionally can evaluate getting a criminal expert to come lower back with you and you will get off person-friendly. the only shy away is they are costly :( p.s you additionally can plead no longer responsible and if the cop isn't there to assert in any different case or take care of himself...your case would be thrown out.

You will get as many points as they give you (but not more than three - if that is the law) - you admit you were doing the crime. If you get 1 point - be happy.

Yes - it will boost your rates.

They wont throw out the ticket because your name is misspelled. You would have to go to court to contest it and you would probably loose.
