Ok, well my mom says I might have a yeast infection, I have a spot on my tounge that is white ish and I have been having discharge. Which smells odd. Do you think I have a yeast infection? If so, I know that you can get medicine for them but is there any other medicine for them that you don't have to stick up ur vagina? I started my period a year ago (almost) and I have never used tampons

Do you have an infection in your mouth or down below? If it is in your mouth it is called Thrush and you will need to go to the Doctor (I don't think you can get the meds OTC). If it is down below (you will recognize it by the intense itching and cheesy white discharge) then you can get Monistat (or equivalent) at the drug store. If you are willing to spend the money, you can get it in a one day dosage. If not, then you will have to do the 7-day cream. Both go inside the vagina. HOWEVER......any odd smell is a sign of a more serious infection and must be looked at by a Doctor.
Good luck!

well thrush you get in your mouth and yeast infection you get in yourvagina are caused by the same bacteria but they are 2 different things, and they rarely have anything to do with each other, but they might. White discharge could be describing cervical mucus which is normal and it will always have it's own unique smell but it shouldn't be rancid, or clumpy like cottage cheese, and it shouldn't itch. Creamy white discharge that might stain a tinge yellow and clear stringy(my fave) discharge are normal. If you think it's a yeast infection go to a doc so they can take a culture and tell you for sure. They may prescribe you a pill but the most common treatments are a cream or an ovule which is like a large pill that you stick up your vag and it disolves. You don't need to worry about putting things in your vag it's designed for that.
btw, guys get jock itch which is the same thing as a yeast infection and thrush also. When guys get jock itch we're supposed to shave our pubes and sleep without underwear so the area can dry out and that would prob help for females too. Girls is internal though so more needs to be done but it can still help.

It could be candida (yeast) in both places. Usually the discharge would itch like crazy though.
A doctor can take one look through a microscope from a sample of the discharge and tell you for sure if it is a yeast infection. All treatments over the counter do require a cream to be put up the vagina (cream stays in, the applicator comes out). It's messy, but it does clear up the problem.

yeah it doesn look like a yeast infection. Dont worry, it is not soo bad to stick the medicine up there instead of suffering with that nasty itch. Try a cream form instaed of the pill form, this is more comfortable and gets rid of the thing fast.
To avoid yeast infection in the future, drink a cup of yogurt evrryday.

If you have a yeast infection (which sounds like it) then yes, I'm sorry, but you will need to stick something up there. It's not fun, but it felt so much better when it was gone.
It's better to have it taken care of early rather than have it get worse and suffer. If after a few days the medicine doesn't clear the symptoms, visit your doctor.
