Nay. Though I do find properly-spelled Nikolai to be a refreshing alternative to overused Nicholas ... especially if it is reflective of the family's heritage! ;)

I've just honestly never seen the "Nicolai" spelling, and have no clue what culture that would be inherent to. It seems a bit of a mishmash of Russian Nikolai and Romanian Nicolae/Neculai, to be honest.

So to be clear, it's just the seemingly-created spelling I don't personally care for. Nikolai itself is a wonderful name! ;)

I like it better spelled Nikolai, but i say yay to the name. You could call him Nikki

I love it, but I do think that Nicholas is probably a safer bet.
