Appalachian State upsetting Michigan 34-32 at the Big House, Notre Dame's horrible season, and Hawaii being undefeated.

Appalachian State beating Michigan in the Big House and Georgia winning over Florida at the Worlds Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party in Jacksonville surprised/disappointed me. Plus, all the ranked teams getting knocked off by underdogs made for an interesting year.

Most would probably say App. St. over Michigan or Stanford over USC, but with Notre Dame it was a season long thing. Actually the biggest surprise might have been Notre Dame over UCLA!

I think it was Kansas.
Before the season started, I was petitioning for them and Baylor to be kicked out of the Conference.
Then they up and go 10-0 and look pretty damn tough.
I just wasn't that surprised by App State and Stanford. I mean App State is a champion and knows a little about playing ball. Stanford usually steps up to play USC, they just happened to find a three story step ladder..

Ohio State playing for the national championship for a second straight year (look at who they lost).
Also, Illinois playing in the Rose Bowl after finishing with only 2 wins each of the past 2 seasons.

Michigan not being a factor in the national championship hunt. With the number of skill players who opted to return, this was going to be a storybook ending to Coach Carr's career. Instead, those players probably lost millions of dollars in future pro contracts and Carr will have to wait for sports historians to sort out his coaching legacy. A tough year in The Big House.

I would say Auburn over Florida, that could change the teams that'll be playing in the championship game. Urban Meyer call a timeout before the kicker made the field goal, and he made it again, that was the first time i've seen that strategy didn't work.

The entire topsy turvy season. There are 10 to 15 teams deserving of the number one ranking.
