Hey

My cousin has 2 week baby boy and this question is really for her. She wants to buy a sling or baby carrier bit isn't sure where from. Some shops sell them but i found that there is alot more variety on the internet.

She's afraid she won't know how to tie it and stuff, so do you think its better she gets it from a shop where they'll probably show her how to tie it, or should she get one from the internet.

Thanks

internet... any site!!

as far as how to tie... best thing is for some in person help... usually a La Leche League group has many members who use slings, wraps, ABCs and even if your cousin is not breastfeeding she could call them and see about attending the next meeting and ask for some help.

also Attachment Parenting groups are awesome with babywearing... this site is all babywearing stuff, some local distributors and "teachers" for slings/wraps/ABCs are listed here: http://wearyourbaby.com/Default.aspx?tabid=61
that site also sells a DVD that shows how to use ABCs, pouches, ring slings, and wraps all in many many positions - worth getting!!

I would want to be there to try it on. If there's not that much variety in one shop, go to several. You never know what they'll send you if you order internet.

I would recommend shops because you can return them if you don't like them (most of them, anyways; be sure to check). With the internet you don't exactly know what you'll get; and there's the shipping charge and wait!

tell her to get the sling at a place were they will show her how to use it- the also have one that it does not require a tie

She should definitely get it from a shop or store, probably a specialty shop, so they know what they are talking about.
