They just found out about it. They came directly from elementary school. I remember when I was in elementary school, I said "crap". One girl said, "Did you just say crap? You're not supposed to curse!". It was probably because they were supervised too much, and there weren't that many people. Then you hit middle school. All of a sudden they meet more "bad" people. Kids aren't supervised as much. They realize they're allowed to curse, and allowed to form cliques, and all of a sudden they're obsessed with this. Suddenly, guys have a crush on any cute girl. (and vice versa.) They're now obsessed with cursing, talking about sex, talking about the opposite sex, and all these other things. Don't worry, it dies down a bit in 7th grade and 8th grade. They act a lot more like adults. They still swear, but not just for the sake of swearing. Boys still compete all the time, though. (I overheard this guy making fun of his best friend because of a test score, and many things like that.) And there are still relationships. But the people who were in many relationships in 6th grade have realized that it's not as much fun as it seems. I think in middle school (and probably in high school) guys will continue to try to prove their "macho manliness", but guys are...well, at this age, most are idiots.

It sounds like your a little more mature than the others. Kids try to bolster their egos by bragging, making up things that never happened, and impressing the other kids by using the foul language. As they get older hopefully they will find that if you know the language and understand it that it's much better to impress even someone your mad at without a single cuss word. Bragging about things you have is not conducive to impressing anyone, people in general do not like braggarts. Being popular is not all it appears. You are always under the eyes of others juding your clothes, what brands are you wearing, does what you have on match, is it already out of fashion.? Your hair just so, and your makeup do you have mascara spider eyes? Are you wearing last years colors of eye shadow. is your nail polish chipped? Do you have food in your teeth or lipstick teeth? They aren't watching because they want to be like them, their watching to bring them down. The first time they see them do something embarassing they spread the word like a wildfire through dry grass. Hoping to watch the leader fall from from grace.
Your way ahead of them, you already know that all that's so phoney. Understanding that you just need to find friends that don't think their hot. Friends that like you, don't have to pretend to be something your not.
Good for you and Good Luck

First of all I must say I think it's good that you can see all this and realise for yourself,at the end of the day you can't change people, but you can learn to live with certain things,I guess you are all just growing up and being of the same age it's like everybody at once going through the same thing, but as long as you understand what is going on as you clearly do,you know for yourself how you want to be treated and seen by others and maybe certain things they see you doing they may follow suit, continue doing what your doing and good luck.

Hollywood role models... Britney Spears, Nicole Richie, Paris Hilton... many young girls look up to them. Now, I'm not going to blame them completely because the parents are a huge step into this.
The girls probably want to "mesh in" with the crowd. Don't give into peer pressure and become one of them, you'll be something you hate and it'll be a huge regret on your life, because most girls who ARE like that when they're younger don't mature, and usually end up pregnant at young ages, doing drugs/, etc.
Stay true to yourself, ignore them, and just pay attention to yourself and your friends.
11 year olds having boyfriends/girlfriends is ridiculous, and you'll notice they only last at least a day or week.
Good luck. :)

It's because of teh media, these people are just wanabes. They see loser rappers and gangster wannabes does that on music videos and because these kids lack the ability to think what is right and what is wrong. I pity them, they only live in their fantasy and their childish imagination......I feel embarrassed for them

Dont try and understand them!!! Or they will make you turn to their land of barbies, sluts and wannabes! I avoid them all the time. I have friends who understand me as i understand them as we are mature and not trying to be what we are not but we are just ourselves and we are the people who meet the nicer boys at school and have proper relationships with oys and not fake fronted ones.

They're just arrogant. Someone put that nonsense into their little pea brains. Just stay as you are and do your own thing, don't let them affect you in any way.

they're imitating society. I'm sorry honey. We grown-ups have really stolen childhood from your generation which is totally unfair since we had great childhoods ourselves
