Yes, you did deserve that.
Since when what happens in your life is other people responsibility?. You deserve it because you are responsible for what happens in your life. It was your choice, and a poor choice. I for example I've been having a good time, other people instead decided to make poor choices and have a hell of a time like you.
Having a hell of a time, is optional, not an obligation. Is for the ones who make poor choices. If it was 2.5 years, why didn't you left on the first month after seeing it was enough?.
To answer your question, yes you deserve it, who else if it was you the one responsible for your life and you did what you did with your time and life. You wont move forward, for as long as you believe you didn't deserve it or someone else has the fault for what happens in your life. You are the only one responsible.

Considering you have already gone through the fire pits of hell why don't you come up for some cooling. Isn't it time to heal yourself and decide it is time for you to care about you. If he walks away chase him or maybe it's time you let him chase you. Only you know what you deserve and it shouldn't be anything less than the best. Good luck.

This is obviously just a rhetorical question, since you provide no information. But, what difference does it make if you deserved it or not? It happened - it is over with - why give someone else so much power over you to make you miserable? Move on!
