how can i remove some of the unnessecary programs from startup? also, are there certain programs that are vital when starting up that should not be deleted? thanks.

haha yep. windows vista. hp alwasy loads their computers up with crap. i love how they predecide what i want on my laptop and to top it off, they put it all on startup! so annoying!

This is somewhat unrelated, you can also try using "Suspend" and "Hibernate", it's often quicker than shutting down. (You have to remember to shut down or restart every time updates are installed)

There are guides on the net of windows services can be turned off. I really like to use "Autoruns" and "Process Explorer" (they're on Microsoft website) to get info on all processes, and turn them off, but it's extremely dangerous. Also, a lot of junk attach to Internet Explorer, kill them with "Manage Add-ons" on IE.
