I saw one poll that had the Congress at 8 %. The Dems just can't get it right. They have the best chance in 40 years to win the White House and who do they run? An African-American with a Muslim background, A Liberal female with more baggage than the "California Zephyr" and a hillbilly from North Carolina that gets $400 haircuts.

till now the 2006 elections, in simple terms Independents and Democrats hated Congress. regrettably, a Democratic Congress hasn't executed plenty to alter Bush regulations. as a result, the only substitute in public opinion is that Republicans have joined Independents and Democrats in hating Congress. Bipartisanship in action from the backside up.

The reason is because during the Republican domination, people were taking a wait and see approach. It went downhill naturally so it dropped to a low of 33%. The Democratic victory had given many people hope for actual change from the incompetent GOP leadership, and when it didn't pan out, Congressional approval ratings dropped even further.

Why was the approval so much higher for the president during this same time period?
It tells me that people have strong convictions about the war and are holding congress and the republican president responsible; as they should. Do you ask all of your questions with blinders on?

It tells you that even though republicans have ****** up our country by voting for Bush, some of them are still looking for a scapegoat for what has happened.
Hence Low approval ratings for Dems and Bush
