Yep, Death Valley is awesome. We are leaving in two weeks to go there and then on to Southern Nevada and Arizona. Death Valley is Beautiful this time of year because flowers are staring to bloom and the temps are great. The best way to travel around in the Southwest is with a truck and trailer or SUV and trailer. Then you can camp out wherever you want and leave your trailer there and go off exploring in your vehicle. Have a lot of fun and if you get a chance MAKE SURE to travel over to Joshua Tree. It is out of this planet Gorgeous!

Hi Cheryl. I go to Death Valley National Park just about every year for the past 6. February is an EXCELLENT time to go. It'll be fairly comfortable and as stated, the desert wild flowers begin to bloom (depending on the rain). There's boatloads to do and there are in fact 3 places to stay in the park. There is a place in Stovepipe Wells (I stayed there a long time ago and it has since been renovated I think) http://www.stovepipewells.com/ ant there are 2 places near the park Visitors Center. Furnace Creek Ranch and Furnace Creek Inn.

I've stayed at the Ranch. It's comfortable but kind of pricey for the accommodations. I have never stayed at the Inn.
Here's the NPS website for Death Valley. http://www.nps.gov/deva
There are so many places to see there it's incredible. The park is HUGE!!! Look over the map on the web page for some ideas, then, when you arrive, chat with one of the rangers in the visitors center. They'll probably be able to give you even better ideas and ways to see the park. If you're up for it, I highly recommend getting a free overnight backpacking permit and spending a night under the stars. Have and AWESOME trip!!! Remember, even in winter dehydration is a concern there!

I have been to Death Valley in Feb! This was in 1984. I went there for a boyscout camping trip. It was a lot of fun. One night we stayed next to the sanddunes; I forget where we were the second night, but it was in the north-central part of the park.
Besides camping, there is one hotel in Death Valley. I think it's supposed to be really nice but expensive. I think it's in the tiny 'town" of Stovepipe Village in the southern part of the park.
You are going at a good time of year. It's in the 70s during the day, but it can get to freezing at night. When I was there, I woke up and found that the water in my canteen had frozen! Quite a change in temps beytween day and night!
Death Valley is very spectacular-sand dunes, mountains, salt flats, mud flats, cliffs, and even a castle in the northern part of the park called Scottys Castle.

I have been there a couple of times.
Near the southern entrance, about an hour or so drive is Pahrump, NV, there are several hotels and casinos here.
Google Pahrump hotels and you will get a great list.
Near the north entrance, a few hours away is Beatty, NV.
There are a few hotels and casinos here too.
Try this link for a great in depth look at the park

November thru March is the best time to go to the park,
and if your lucky in February, you may see the wild flowers blooming.
have Fun!

Death Valley is pretty devoid of lodging facilities. Scotty's Castle is the only place I can think of. You'll have to stay in a town nearby and drive to the park for day trips.
