I am about 31 weeks now. Has anyone done anything to speed the labor process at 38 weeks?

37 weeks for two of my babies, both small. The other went the full 40 weeks plus and was 7lbs 6oz. She had hair and dimples in her elbows and knees. That extra bit of time did her good. I did nothing to speed labour nor would I advise doing so. Let nature do what she does best. Happiness!

Mine both came at 37 1/2 weeks. With my first, he just came naturally - water broke, went to the hospital, he came out and everything was normal. He was just under 7 lbs. My second was induced because I was sick and they feared an infection. She was also completely healthy (and over 8 lbs, even at 2 1/2 weeks early!) My husband's cousin's wife just gave birth also at 37 1/2 weeks to a completely normal, healthy baby. My husband was also born at 37 weeks, I believe, and he was also fine. It seems like babies in his family like to come a little early! (I don't know if this is true, but I read somewhere that babies with the same father can have the same tendency to come early or late, so it might be possible to run in the family like that. Who knows?) Anyway, supposedly it's more common for first babies to be late rather than early, but this wasn't the case for me. It was kind of a huge surprise. I'm kind of glad they came early, really - I've heard so much complaining from women in the last few weeks of pregnancy, but I didn't have to go through as much!

BB #1-42 Weeks, induced
BB #2-42 Weeks, water broken
BB #3-41 Weeks, Natural Labor

We tried EVERYTHING to speed up the onset of labor (sex, walking, ect) seems like the BB will come when your body is ready to let go of it :)

Good Luck

There are alot of old wives tales... some say sex, some say walking, some say take a laxative, some say castor oil... none of these worked for me... I didnt try castor oil tho, too dangerous, but my baby came at 37 weeks 3 days,so... but hey dont rush it. Enjoy those last couple of weeks with your baby not crying and keeping you up and spitting up on you... :) congrats to you...

I went to 40 weeks. Little bugger was stubborn. I just tried to walk him out. Sex and nipple stimulation are safe ways to help induce labour.

I gave birth 4 days before my due date. Walking and sex can speed it up but don't do it too early. Give your baby time to develop his/her lungs.
