There isnt such a thing

I wouldn't say there is no such thing as normal, but every "family" I know has drama, but in the end, "family" backs one another no matter what drama they may have had in the past/present. Family will go through hell with you, regardless, and family loves eachother unconditionally. Family are the only people where the drama doesn't define the relationships, nor does it get in the way of the love you have for eachother. If they don't want to deal with the drama involved, then they don't belong in that family.

Sure there is such a thing. The "normal" role of a family is to raise children - that is the families function. So a normal, or functional, family nurtures children to grow and become healthy adults. An "abnormal", or dysfunctional, family does not nurture children but has the children nurturing the adults. Children are used for political statements, for increases in government assistance, as bargaining chips in divorce, and for a multitude of other reasons. When adults forget about their own pain/agenda and nurture children you have a normal family.

There really is no such thing as an ordinary family. No family is perfect, and that's OK. Each family is special and individual in their own unique ways.

The defination of normal.... Now thats a million dollar question. Becuase what may work for your family may not work for yours.

I guess the best way for me to answer that is. In a normal family there is love and respect for each other. That when something is wrong you no that your family will be there to help. They may not agree with what you have done but still stick with you

I think that normal is whatever feels right or normal to the family. Some may think that my family is strange because of how close we are and how we don't talk crap about each other and we actually enjoying being with each other. Some family only get togather for the holidays, and don't know anything about each other and make catty comments to each other and well to some people thats normal also......

There really isn't a way. Every family has their own problems, and own way of doing things. Families are normal in their own way.
