Actually the question "hows it going?" is the only thing stupid here as how are we suppose to know what "it" is exactly? When I get asked that question,I just tell them "its going, not sure where its going but its going" and leave it at that. Let them figure that out for themselves

Make them confused. Like say, "Oh, hows IT going. Yeah, it's going good if yah know what I mean." Put an emphasis on the IT. Also, you gotta put like a voice on. I can't explain it, but it's kind of a funny voice. Like, one you'd hear in the movies when two people are talking and the information is just between the two of them. You also might wanna nudge the person a little, and wink at them. I think if you say Oh I'm doing good, how about you, it'd be boring.

It is a rhetorical questions and no one really expects a specific reply. It is kind of like saying "hello, how are you". Most people expect you just to say....Everything is going well, then maybe add one or two details about your life.

Wonderfully, and you?
It's really just a small talk question people ask when they want to start a conversation, or want to break the ice.

They mean how are thing going in your life. You simply tell them what you want them to know about whats going on.Your reply should be based on how close you are to them.

Just tell them how you are. You can say what you have been doing or how you have been feeling. It is a very broad question and you should just say what you are currently thinking.

Reply "good and you?". That's the most common phrase to say.
