How about 60 F
I would guess your talking about using a tank water heater. I never used a water heater device in the tank for guppies I had, and use to drop the furnace temperature to 60 F at night to save on the gas bill. The fish slowed their activities, but they lived. I had live plants in my tank, that may have helped them deal with the temperature change in some way. They didn't die from temperature change. I had them for three years before I gave them away.

Guppies are happiest between 72 & 75 degrees. They will live in cooler temperatures but not do very well. Your tank will stay at whatever temperature your room is so I doubt that you're comfortable at 50. If your tank is a decent size it won't cool down quickly if you only turn the temperature down overnight.

On the other hand I doubt that an aquarium heater is using any vast amount of electricity that you'd even notice on your bill.

The first thing you should know is that guppies are tropical fish. This means that the temp should be around 72- 78 degrees farenheit. The best temp would be 75-76.

I would not go any lower than 64˚ F, a heat doesn't use all that much electricity, especially if the tank isn't that large. Also if you reduce your heat on your home your heater will have to kick on more often, so its on or the other.

I would suggest, if you want healthy fish, keep them at the recommended 72 F. Otherwise they wont last long.
