what has rap music come to now a days? I remember when rap used to be good and the songs weren't always about hoes, money and drugs. The music that they produce for rappers is disgraceful! I was a big rap/hip-hop/r&b lover until this crap started being produced, now all i listen to is rock ( not popular bands) and reggae. And for the black community to sit around and dance to this music and say that it is good is disgraceful. I mean look at it this way, the rap/hip-hop video's demean women in all ways possible. They make it okay to use derogatory words to each other. They make it ok to speak like they aren't educated. What are they teaching the population of america? to speak and be idiots! now i know i'm being way past harsh, and i'm mostly only targeting rap. I know that some rock music is fake and horrible. But rap is so much worse. After my rant, how can you think that songs like crank that, chicken noodle soup are good, when they only contain about three lines of actual lyrics?

and please don't say rude comments like 'oh you don't understand because you're white and it's a part of our culture' because I'm not white at all. I'm half black. Not everything is about race. so please stop the the racial naming. My point here was that the rap music needs to improve with actual meaningful lyrics before it's dead. The only PRODUCED rapper i think is good would be kanye west because he actually talks about meaningful things. Now please give me you're honest input and don't bag on me.

2) Black people aren't the only ones listening/supporting Hip Hop/Rap Artist.
3) Rap Artist aren't the only ones to blame for the demeaning of women and the way people talk.

Don't drop the blunt and disrespect the weed" - Yeah, Kanye is so "meaningful."
Yes, some Hip Hop/Rap songs make people want to cry, but the mainstream hip hop/rap has changed. You actually have to look for songs that you like. If you like Kanye, and can disregard his "other" type of lyrics, I don't see the problem.

Good Question !----Sadly; I think that Rap emulates a lot of black & white culture + society today that glorifies the " career path " of an illiterate disrespectfull Gangster & , at the same time , ridicules the " career path " of an educated, well-mannered Accountant or Attorney--Education takes long hard work, study & dedication......Crime takes 5 minutes & a gun ---Years ago; James Brown sung stay in school & get an education.----I can't remember the last time I heard a rap song promoting higher education ??

You just need to scratch the surface of music. You can't get all of your music from MTV. There are plenty of new hip-hop artists that aren't wack as hell.
El-P for one just dropped a new cd that's tight as hell.

i love hip hop i think its the best music out there crank dat is a dance song so it doesnt matter wut he say...rap is still good & its not all bout all dat stuff its about dancin and makin u want 2 sing dat song...the way we speak iz our style so...so dont put blame on rap jus listen 2 somethin else

well, i think hip hop has always had songs like that and it's not ALL rap's fault either.
not all rap/hip hop's words are like what you say, you gotta find the good ones ;)
i know common and lupe fiasco doesnt do it as much so i listen to them
and i like kanye because most his songs are really good!
