Weight does matter. The heavier you are, the harder a move's going to be. I am slightly overweight and I have to put in much much more effort than anyone else on the team but it is still possible to do gymnastics. You might slim down after a while of it, who knows?

Nobody starts off knowing gymnastics. A bit of experience will be better but really, which baby was born a gymnast?

Having a leotard would be much more convenient for gymnastics. However, at the gym I started, the dress code was just shirt and shorts/tights, and only a leotard if you wanted to. But I suggest you get a leotard, your shirt flying up and showing everything to the world while you handstand is not the best idea.

You can practice in the gyms when you enrol but, for the time being, find some place where it's grassy or use a mat. Do handstands and cartwheels against the wall to train. If you want to learn how to do a bridge from standing up, use your hands to walk down the wall and you'll soon be able to do it.

If you have a clear wall with no hard furniture around it, you can kick up to a handstand against it.

You can do some other drills at home too, but I would suggest no turning upside down except for the handstand against the wall and bridges. Just to be safe:

In gymnastics the things you can do are divided into levels so when you go to the gym they will set you in the level that best suits you
