DO NOT kill anyone???

In 2004, the CDC reported 29,000 deaths in the U.S. attributed to guns.

80,000,000 (that's 80 Million) U.S. citizens are gun owners.

This means that 0.003625%, that is only THREE HUNDREDTHS OF ONE PERCENT of gun-owners will murder someone.

In contrast, the National Safety Council reports that law-abiding citizens use guns to defend themselves against criminals over 2.4 million times every year. (That is 6,575 times a day.) This means that each year, firearms are used 60 times MORE OFTEN to protect the lives of honest citizens than to take lives.

Question:
With yearly averages of 21,000 alcohol-induced deaths; 40,000 deaths resulting from motor vehicle accidents; and 120,000 deaths attributed to medical malpractice; on what basis does any politician honestly have to pursue legislation that will lead to the banning of fire-arms?

Do you think that "Gun Control" might just be more about "Control"?

People will believe anything they hear without doing some research first. I question every thing I hear, and I know how much bull **** there is going on. People like the idea of gun control because they THINK it's a problem that needs to be fixed, while ignoring the fact that the number one killer in America is an unhealthy diet. Those same people who want to keep drugs illegal, make guns illegal or hard to obtain, will go out and have a Big Mac after voting against things that destroy only a fraction of what an unhealthy diet will.

It is extremely easy for the government to use fear as a way of controlling the population. Part of that is creating an enemy by exaggerating the truth or flat out lying about the subject.

Yes! If they take guns out of the hands of honest, law-abiding, citizens, the criminal element will be very much aware of the gun ban, but will still find a way to get guns and use them in the commission of crimes! However, the potential victims won't have the means of protecting themselves and their families!

There are many anecdotal stories plus statistical evidence to show that in States where concealed carry of weapons by honest citizens is legalized and permits are issued to properly screened and trained individuals, the crime rate drops precipitously and dramatically!

"Gun control" especially as supported by many liberal politicians including Bill and Hillary Clinton, Charles Schumer, Chris Dodd, Barbara Boxer, Diane Fienstein and others, is about confiscation. Mayor Ray Nagin of New Orleans actually got away with it, despite two federal court findings against his actions. The lawful firearms owners of New Orleans haven't got their firearms back since they were seized in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. They're still locked away in trailers, in direct defiance of federal court orders to release them to their rightful owners..

Some people buy guns to go hunting with, others just have one for protection, and others have a gun but are mature enough to not kill anyone!

Right on. People who want gun control are short-sighted knee-jerks. I have no patience for it. Colombine, VA Tech, and the mall shootings are all Gun-Free Zones. What part do people not understand?

And it absolutely is about control. The 2nd Amendment's #1 purpose is to protect us from tyrants even it they're part of our government. Period.

Most of those gun related deaths are suicides. I'll look and see if I can find a link but they don't go out of their way to make that info available.

That is a rather scary statement because it means that it only takes one in a thousand to make America into the shooting gallery it is today and look how easily things could get worse.

You do know that in england only 27 people died of gun violence, don't you?

No it is, because people with guns kill more people without guns. (Look at Va tech, combine and most other schools that people used guns!)
