To many folks this question may seem ridiculous, but actually it may not be as absurd as it first appears.
Sure, assuming there is no technology-capable life in this solar system, the nearest planet bearing such life is likely to be many thousands of light years away, and it would only be only by a (most unlikely) statistical fluke that one would be within 100 light years of us. Two way comms with such a planet would be impracticably slow due to the travel time of radio or other signals which would take many years just to say "Hi" and receive a response.
However, a distant civilisation could have sent an automated probe to this solar system. This probe could contain the complete knowledge set of the sending world, plus advanced programming that would allow us to interrogate this knowledge set. The external interface of this "advanced programming" would appear to us as an "intelligent" source of information about a distant world. This kind of automated probe is called a "Bracewell probe".
It is speculated that such a probe may be lurking somewhere in our solar system, receiving and analysing radio signals from Earth, and may announce it's present when ready to do so.
So in a sense it IS possible to communicate with another planet. Just not directly.
And no I have not attempted it - at least not deliberately!

Hahahaha Vicky! sturdy question. i glance greater effective in real life than in photos (so i'm informed - elegance is the variety of subjective term) yet yeah, there are some people who've that "one sturdy" image that they post everywhere - and the fact is that image is ten years previous! I hate fake advertising. Its greater effective if the guy (or woman) is cuter in guy or woman.

I am still trying to connect to the intelligent life this planet is supposed to harbor. Since I live in the US, that has turned out to be very difficult because there are very few truly intelligent life forms around.

Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.
