Your friend is an awful liar. If he would've picked a more reasonable number (say .571), it might've been more believable.

171 for 234 is a .731 average. That's a lot of at bats for a high school season and a ridiculously high average for any level of baseball. I don't think someone could hit .731 if they were hitting off a tee.

If he was batting .731 in high school he would have been chased by every major college program in the country and several MLB teams would have scouted him also. He would have been a star among dorks in his high school. What I'm trying to say is everyone within four counties would have heard of this kid and everyone interested in sports within four states would have heard of him. Just don't think so.

The only way he hit for that average is if he was in high school playing on a little league team of 12 year olds

86 for 117 is about as close to exactly hitting .731.

Yes, thats high, even for high school baseball...

That's almost 3 hits every 4 times at bat .Ask one of his team mates if he only makes one out a game . I think you would find him to be lying .

That's about 201 hits out of 275 at-bats, pretty high, but it isn't completely impossible. Try finding out how many hits and at bats he had that season to see if he doesn't know.
