its hard to say Mcevils prediction is only a projected turn out but either team could turn around just like if you did a prediction of how the sabres are going to do buy looking at all their games it wouldnt be as well as if you looked at it between their first 17 and their last 17 i think he needs to break it down a little like that but i think between the Isles and the Rangers on paper yea the Rangers would probably go to the playoffs

1 Rangers have better offencer
2 Goalies are about equal
with that in mind i would probalby say the rangers but you never know one team could go on a winning streak and do really well the last half of the season and the other may just stay inconsistant or they both could make the playoffs but its not likely b/c there is NJ to keep in mind in their divison and also Philly although they have been struggling their last 6 games or so but that team is still really good and they will probably make the playoffs

Islanders - 7th seed, *42-33-7, 90 points
Rangers - 12th seed, *38-35-9, 85 points

--Have fun. I factored in Carolina taking the 3 seed and the Southeast Division. Otherwise, the Islanders would be a 6 seed. So, on paper the answer is the Islanders.

---to the kids below me......Rangers and Isles finishing one/two in the Atlantic isn't going to happen and the Rangers are not even one of the best teams in their division. They will probably finish bottom 3 in the div. They started sort of strong but still are at the bottom of the league in scoring

Tonight (26th), The Islanders and Rangers both won and moved up one seed.

Rangers

Islanders...

Rangers overspent on Gomez who is the new queen of the Rags. Barely any room under the salary cap for major changes. Oh wait, Rangers only have 7 people under contract next year, Shanahan and Jagr are both gunna be gone, and they have a woodie for Montoya. Look for Lundqvist to be let go, Tom Renny to lose more hair.

The Isles and Rangers have basically the same record right now, and with a Rangers loss to Carolina tonight, (likely) and an Islanders win against Toronto (Blakes gettin murdered at the Coli since he prissied off and left last year with or WITHOUT his leukemia sympathy) the Isles move into second in the division, aaaaaand have played 1 less game than the Rangers. The rags are I believe 2-6-2 in their last 10 games, and Lundqvist is inconsistant. Rangers are a sad breed of fans....go to home depot and buy a ' miracle grow a dynasty'

Without a question, the New York Rangers. I am not a fan of them, but they are one of the best teams in the league with the weapons they have. The Islanders are losers.

Rangers will win the division with Islanders second, both making the play-offs

The Islanders don't have anyone who can score. There is no offense on that team, and therefore no chance to enter the playoffs. The Rangers, however, have a great goalie (Henrik Lundqvist) and many new/old offensive weapons (Jagr, Drury, Gomez). The Rangers simply have a stronger team.

Some of you are retarded. You keep saying the Rangers have a great goalie, well guess what? So do the Islanders, who have arguably the 3rd best goalie in the league right now.. The coach Nolan has proven in the past that he can win with hard working mediocre teams. Never underestimate a Nolan team.

Rangers. Rangers and Redwings are the top two teams in the NHL. What part of NY are you from?

On paper..................the Rangers are significantly better than the Rangers, but that's why the game is played on the ice.

The contract that Charles Wang gave DiPietro is being looked at by NHL owners, GMs, and player agents as a stroke of genius, especially in a slary cap era. The standard length of a players contract has more than doubled in the salary cap era (prior to the lockout, no player aside from Yashin had been offered a contract greater than 5 years since the 80s and last year there were 20+ contracts greater than that figure).

Charles Wang created tons of shareholder value, and a well respected business model with Computer Associates (minus the nepotism issues and his close ties to anything Chinese) and a lot of NHL owners look up to him (or down as I believe he may be the shortest of the 30)
