Bears, Niners and Broncos.

'72 Dolphins did not lose, but they were not dominant in the postseason, winning by 6, 4 and 7 points respectively.

Some teams like the Broncos had the chance to go undefeated after starting 13-0 but they prefered to rest the starters when it didn't matter.

'79 Steelers, Broncos, Redskins and especially Niners and Bears routed their opponents in the most important game of the season.

If the Pats win SB XLII by 3 points or anything less than a touchdown, they shouldn't be considered the best ever.

Well, only one of those is undefeated...until the Pats finish it out by crushing the Giants...but the '07 Pats would crush the '72 Dolphins

If the Patriots win out this year, I will say the Patriots. In this age of free agency, year round training, intensely competative teams in every conference and every division, to go undefeated is extraordinary. To win more than 12 games these days is pretty extraordinary.

well, logically, all-time isn't over yet.
but up until now, it has to be the steelers of 78-79.
who knows what the future holds.

The Steelers in the 70's were the best team, no taking anything away from them
