I saw a documentary about a woman in Nevada who was a politian and may have been killed by her husband . there were doubts that she may have killed her first husband . the children of that man claim she killed him . and said that their stepmother took all the money and they didnt inheret anything from their rich father .

My wonder is to why they cant inheret if their father is married ? i wish they look at the Islamic system when it comes to inheretance . it is worth looking .

because, the husband did not have a "will" or his kids listed as beneficiary on life insurance policy. Or his "will" states he wanted his current wife to have everything.

The law where they lived states the current wife gets everything if there is no "will".

The kids will have to civil sue her. But it is up to the jury or judge if they will order the wife to give anything to the children.

Have you ever heard of a will? A person can will anything they want to anyone. If you don't prepare a will the NEXT OF KIN inherits. A spouse is always before a child. That's why in blended families, a will solves the problem. Even so, greed will motivate family members to contest a written will. These suits usually fail--think of Anna Nicole Smith, and learn.

Inheritance is based mainly on the will of the deceased. I'm assuming his will left everything to the stepmother. If he didn't have a will then the courts would get invovled.
