I don't care for it. As the others said, it brings to mind Marilyn, which I like. Merrilyn looks like the parent didn't know how to spell Marilyn.

So you want your baby going through life saying "Marilyn, that's spelled M.E.R.R.I.L.Y.N". I've got nothing against the name, but I think it's an irritation to have to spell out your name every time.

Here's a few that are tipped to be popular in the future [2015 - from 'freakonomics'] - your girl will be ahead of the game and they don't have a lot of different spellings. Emma, Fiona, Kate, Lara, Sophie.

My girls are Sandra Joanne Nicole Emma and Elizabeth and none of them dislike their names.

Choose wisely, they're stuck with it for life.

I think it is different. I do like the name but I think it would like better if you found a different way to spell it. The double Rs just don't look right to me.

I think it's a very classic name, but it makes me think of Marilyn Monroe and Marilyn Manson. EWWW!!! Otherwise it is a sweet and pretty name. I just wish Marilyn Manson hadn't ruined it...ugh...

Honestly, I don't care for it. It sounds like the dated Marilyn. Merideth is lovely, and Marianna is gorgeous. But Merrilyn just seems like a mish mash.

Stick with Marilyn, which is a very pretty name. Changing letters doesn't make it unique or interesting, it makes it weird and prone to being misspelled.

I agree with the other posters. I love unusual names, but don't mess with the spelling. The poor kid will spend her entire life correcting people.

The name is ok. Not great just ok. I do however like M names maybe something like Madeline. Or perhaps Mandelin.
