My friend has a serious weight issue for a long time now. She is obese. Recently, in my opinion, the situation got worse. My friend is starting to look sick and unhealthy. My friend also drinks a lot. She is unmotivated to exercise she rarely exercises. She eats unhealthy foods as well.. (fatty foods)She goes to the bar about four to five times a week. My mom who used to be a nurse, made a comment to me that my friend looks really sick. And, my mom thinks the situation will get worse if someone does not talk to her about her problem. Her parents do not seem to care she is 29 years old. Someone already said she had a problem but, she grew defensive. I want to say something, but, I'm afraid she will grow defensive as well. I'm not sure it will help either. What do you do in this type of situation?

Say SOMETHING if u care..so what if she gets defensive..she may have a serious disease of the liver and she needs to hear it..and weather or not she likes it does not matter. Save a Life..tell her you care about her..want her to see a Doctor..and go to an alcohol Detox. If she's remains self destructive...something in her life was really bad and she's using alcohol as a pain killer. Unfortunately, if she continues IT will kill her. You can also try to get her a psych evaluation...call and tell someone in social services for adults about your concern..maybe they w/ put her on a 72 hr hold..then she'll be detoxed and they can refer her to a psychotherapist. I know it sounds harsh..but, if ur her friend that is what it will take. Good Luck she's lucky to have u for a friend

I think about the only thing you could do is to say to her that you care about her very much, and are really worried about her health - that she is killing herself, and you can't stand to watch it. Trust me, she knows exactly what she is doing. It is a depression and self esteem problem, that she is only making worse.

Basically, there is nothing you can do. If a person doesn't want to change or help themself, then there is nothing you can do to change that.

Talk to her and tell her she needs to change her habits...
