We currently have 304 million people. Yes, population increase places strain on the environment, but we can change our ways, and build our infrastructure to minimize that effect. Even with 1 billion people our population density would only be 1/4 that of the UK for example, and Great Britain is one of the developed countries in the world.

Well Nigeria has an official population of 130 million and is not even a quarter the size of the USA. So if you go on that basis then the USA could safely take 420 million people and still not be to full.

Why do we always make comparisons anyway with other places lets face it there are parts of both countries I mentioned that no one could really live. don't think to many would be living on top of mount st helens for example.

No, the US is not overpopulated. That rhetoric is coming from the bigots and racists on the right. What they really mean is that they think there's too many "people of color." Of course, tehy were saying the same thing a century ago when the population was 110 million and a lot if immigrants from southern Europe were arriving! LOL

With the current infrastructure - possibly.

In general, not at all. There are vast tracts of wilderness in the US - in the UK (or almost any European country) there is barely anywhere where you're more than 20 miles from a settlement.

Depends on what area. Some absolutely have too many people. When roads, schools, hospitals are congested then that area is overpopulated and, for example, here in south Florida that is the case. There simply is NO NEED for ANY immigration. Immigration is a PRIVLEDGE, not a right. Every Illegal MUST BE DEPORTED and there should be a 10 year ban on all immigration with the exception of temp work visas.
