My rental agreement was up on 11/31/07, I found out on 11/26/07, I would be able to move into my new place on 12/8/07, Considering the circumstances that they are remodeling my apt as soon as i'm out, i figured they'd pro rate me even though i didn't put in a 30day notice. Yet i thought wrong, when i contacted them. I was informed in fact i would be responsible to pay up until 12/26/07 30 days from time of notice. This had me agitated so i said ok well my lease is up on the 31st what if i'm out by then? The apt. manager told me thats fine just make sure your keys are turned in by that evening. So that i did, i was out by the end of my lease. although i never put in 30 days notice. they have now sent me a bill for 496.00 due to the fact i didn't put in 30 days notice. anyone know the law? if i'm out by the termination of my lease am i still resp. for 30day notice? or how this legally works? they said its going on my credit in ten days? which is now tomorrow..... not sure what to do here

At any time, did anyone from the leasing office say that you are not responsible for the 30 days rent, being that you didn't give 30 days notice? And if so, is any of that in writing.

You mentioned that the leasing manager said that it was okay so long as your keys were in by the 31st. But did she ever say anything about not paying the last months rent?

If your rental agreement says 30 days notice, and you didn't give it, then you're on the hook for the last months rent. Besides, you're already stayed past the 30 days which automatically puts you on a month-to-month, and 30 days notice required.

If you did not get any written agreement that there would be no penalty for early termination, you're on the hook. The law clearly states that a thirty day written notice is to be provided when preparing to vacate the premises.

Since you did not provide such, you are responsible for rents until the END of December, since such notices are based upon a monthly tenancy period. Pay up.

in case you probably did no longer get any written settlement that there could be no penalty for early termination, you're on the hook. The regulation of course states that a thirty day written observe is to be presented whilst making waiting to vacate the premises. for the reason which you probably did no longer supply such, you're responsible for rents until eventually the top of December, for the reason that such notices are based upon a month-to-month tenancy era. Pay up.
