You need a Win95 boot disk. Reinstall Win95. THEN install WINXP over the top of it.

You can make a Win95 boot disk with a plain formatted floppy disk on any computer that has Win95 on it.

Get into the BIOS, change the Boot order. It may not know it needs to boot from CD, before it boots from the Hard Drive.

There should be a Splash Screen for whatever the computer company is and it should have a few options, like F10 or F2 that should allow you to change the settings of the BIOS. Once it, follow the instructions on how to navigate around and change items. It is usually at the bottom of the screen.

Good luck!

There should be a keyboard command to take you to a boot menu , F12 works on a Dell, you press it when your computer is just starting to boot. Other brands may have different keys, you would need to contact the manufacturer. Also you can get into the BIOS and set your CD-ROM as the first boot device and if that is done correctly you shoud get " Press any key to boot from CD...". If you are having this much trouble you may need someone who is more computer savvy to help you out, not trying to sound mean, but if you dont know what your doing, its best to find someone who does.

PS.
Your XP CD may not be bootable, is it a burned copy or did it come with the PC?

Go into the bios settings and make your cd rom the first boot device. Depending on your model, usuall you can either hit "delete" "F1" or "F2" just as you turn on the computer.
