Each freedom America has as a country is worth fighting for, even if it means having to go overseas to do so. I don't know why any American could be willing to say that they aren't worth it.

Anyone who thinks we're oppressed by the government doesn't have any clue as to what an oppressive government actually is. Americans have no right to complain. There's more opportunity here than anywhere else in the world, and the victims here will usually know they partially have themselves to blame. Freedom is being able to live your life with the ability to choose what you want to do with it without having to fear your life being taken by circumstances. Ask a poverty-stricken child in Africa if he can do the same. Ask a poor and endangered family in Iran if they can do the same.

America has freedom that billions of people will never see in their lives. How can we be ungrateful enough to not fight for it?

Yes. Our freedoms have always been worth fighting for and always will be. What on earth would you rather switch to?

Hmm...I'd fight. But I doubt you'd find many liberals who would. They'd talk about it. They're good at talking, but statistics show that very, very few would ever actually fight for anything. I think the current percentage in the military is something like 7%. So no, they'd sit back here where it's safe and yap.

Now, that would be okay. I don't mind them yapping. But couldn't they at least focus their yapping on supporting our efforts to bring freedom to other peoples and safety to America and much of the world? Instead, they seem intent on undermining our efforts while encouraging our enemies and they call that patriotism.

Go figure.

Good answer m1a1mike, most americans have lost all common sense. The old saying, proud to be an american, well I used to be, but not so sure anymore. Especially when it comes to politicians.

Of course.

That is why I tried to join the military (Meps said no).
Today I fight the US gov't for the same reason.

Taking away the rights of a single US citizen affects us all. As has been said before, we either stand together or fall apart.

You are equating the war in Iraq as defending American freedom. That couldn't be further from the truth. This war was based on lies about WMD. All we have done is de-stablize Iraq and there is no military solution to what is going on there, so in answer to your question, yes I would rather switch than fight. I can think of better things to do with the trillion dollars we've spent there and the thousands of lives American and Iraqi alike that have been lost.

Freedom of religion: Christian Fundamentalist or none.

Freedom of speech: Thou shalt never question government policy.

Freedom of choice: What to eat for dinner or which car to drive, otherwise, fuggedaboudit.

Freedom against cruel and unusual punishment: It's only waterboarding for God's sake.

Due process: Habeus corpus is not in the constitution.

What did I miss?

"Those who will give up essential liberties for the sake of temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety"
--Bengamin Franklin
"and in the long run will achieve neither"
--Robert Heinlein

I suppose that some people think their freedom isn't worth fighting for. But anyone with any self-respect does. But let's be clear about one thing: any "enemy" is that person or powerwho wishes to curtail or take away our freedoms. The only person/group that has attempted to curtail the liberty of the American citizen in the last 7 years is the Bush regime.

Yes.
But these freedoms are being destroyed by the current administration in an attempt to promote an agenda on revenge and disinformation.
Cowards fall for the BS and allow the most corrupt administration ever to walk over the Constitution instead.
