Because you thought you were getting older and it was time? I was only 23 at the time, and she was only 21.

Because you felt obligated? I felt no obligation to marry her whatsoever.

Because your family arranged it? My family had not even met her, and I had not met her family, before we got married.

Because he asked and you couldn't say no? She'd had a very short, painful marriage before me, so it was hard for her to say yes, actually.

Because you thought it would change you or him/her? I married her hoping she would never change, but she has. She's gotten better! Over the years, she's become more educated, better at communicating, and more sexually adventurous, just to name a few.

Because you were pregnant? No, we didn't have our first child until 7 years into the marriage.

Because the sex was amazing? The sex was very good, and may even qualify as "part" of the reason.

Because you needed health insurance? I had health insurance but she didn't. I'm sure that didn't weight into her decision though.

Because he/she is wealthy? When we married, we were firm members of the lower class, lol. One of our first apartments was government subsidized low income housing.

Or simply because you knew he/she was the one and you loved him/her? Yes, although I would argue with your choice of the word "simply" because something that perfect and profound is anything but simple!

Because the sex was amazing? You already asked this one.

Because he needed paper to be legal in america and if he did not marry a united states citzen he would have not been able to come into this country plus we already had 2 kids. I think I was in love. And the sex was good. If you want to know we are still together today. And the sex is still good.

I was pregnant, felt obligated, and he asked and I felt like I couldn't say no. But, It turns out he is the "one"! We have been happily married for 3 1/2 years and every day gets better.....The sex is amazing too.

There were lots of reasons for me. I was sure he was the one and madly in love with him. The sex was amazing. He was being sent away by the army, and the only way I could go with him was by getting married. Then I got pregnant and that pretty much ended the internal struggle and fear of committment.
Been married 7 years now, keeps getting better.

Though we're not 'legally' married, we said our vows before a witness... (i'm, 45 yrs old)

Why? Because I love the woman and want to be with her the rest of my life.
