As I recall he defeated Alan Keyes fair and square. The polls indicated that he would beat the other guy who dropped out anyway. So no, he did not win by default. And anyway losing by default would be better than taking an election away from an opponent like Bush did Gore.

properly whilst he first ran for us senator i presumed it grow to be no huge deal = yet than i pay attention to 3 of his speeches and consider the two between the books he wrote -- he has fairly some large ideals -- getting them in place is yet another component -- yet putting the horse the place it quite is going to be the place i come from in southern illinois he will have a coarse time getting votes -- one because of the fact he's of the incorrect social gathering and a pair of because of the fact he's black -- yet chicago electorate will carry the state and he will win illinois!!!!

It's a tough job but someone had to do it. I guess he took a job no one else wanted because he cared about the people in Illinois. Why is this a problem?

illinois invented crooked politics. and our last governor is now in prison. and it looks like our current governor has a fair chance of becoming his cell-mate. and a whole host of other problems. illinois politics is a joke (or it would blow my mind if the rest of the country doesn't see it that way.)
