I'll pick meet you at Kingsford Smith International and in 30 minutes we will be strolling along Cronulla Beach and around the foreshores overlooking the national park.... we hop back on the train for 20 minutes and at Hurstville there is Sonny's Seafood Restaurant which serves the ultimate in Yum Cha dumplings... having stuffed our faces full of chicken's feet and seafood fare we can waddle back onto the train to Bondi Junction and a quick bus trip to Bondi Beach (you have to see something famous) .. and we will stroll round to Tamerama and check out some fried eggs sunny side up... you will ike it ''' cause it will remind of a lil beach in Brazil... without the crowds. (well it will be crowded by Sydney standards).
.... then back to my place for a night cap! (You are very welcome 8TM)

By traditional I assume you mean, the Bridge, opera house and Centre Point tower.
Some other ideas: the Botanical Gardens + Lady Macquarie's Chair, all in the vicinity of the Opera House. While you are there you may want to visit some historical houses within the garden, the Art gallery and the Conservatorium.
Always on Macquarie St there is the Mint and Parliament House, old Sydney Hospital and the Barracks (where the convicts resided).
Hyde Park is lovely for a walk and some picturesque photos and close to St Mary's Cathedral.
Circular Quay and the Rocks are fantastic. In the Rocks you can visit several historical houses and amongst the oldest in Australia. Circular Quay is nice for a walk and to catch ferries to other locations.
Taronga Zoo, that has a wonderful view of the harbour.
Luna Park may be fun if you have children.
Darling Harbour and the various wharfs. Whilst there you can visit the Sydney Acquarium, the new Reptile and native animal park, the Maritime museum.
Sydney Beaches. Hundreds to see.
You can also visit some of the traditional attractions in a different way. For instance you can climb the harbour Bridge or you can go to the top of Centre Point Tower and walk out onto a glass ceiling that allows you to see the whole city.
These are just some ideas. I've only noted the things that are within the city centre (ie walking distance). However, there are many things to see also just outside in the various suburbs if you are interested. Also, if you want to brave public transport, you can try going even further. For instance, Katoomba and the Blue Mountains are a nice and quiet place for a picnic and bushwalking. We have some fantastic national parks if you enjoy bush walking and observing nature.

Personally, I'd seek out an Aboriginal owned and operated arts and crafts center.... I know of other places in Oz where there are some... but not Sydney.
Hope to visit there some day..... for about a month. Plan to visit Sydney, Cairns, Arnhem Land, Alice, and Perth. I'll probably have to pick and choose a few less.... but these are my hopes :)

You should check with your local public library on travel books on Sydney. A good book to read on this subject is "30 days in Sydney: a Wildly Distorted Account" by Peter Carey.

One of my all time favourite places is this restaurant/bar/club in Cockle Bay called Black Bird Cafe. Awesome food, drinks and music.
Bondi and Coogee beaches are beautiful and the Chinese Gardens near Darling Harbor are breath taking.
But most of all, my favourite place here is the Blue Mountains about an hour out of Sydney. They are spectacular...
