you need the new motor, its just easier to replace the entire latch mechanism, if that dosent solve the problem its in the woring, the entire job is a general pain in the rear.

Operate the motor manually to see if it's pulling down....Make sure it's engaging the striker on the decklid...if not, adjust the striker or motor mounting.

then go to a junk yard and get another one.. i had the same problem on my 99 cadillac deville.. but the motor wont pull down but it will lock.. and thats SIMPLE enough for me..
at least my stuff wont fall out..

probably needs to be replaced( trunk motor) not hard to replace
