Just being smart isn't enough if you want to get ahead. Many intelligent people think they're pretty exceptional. They see themselves as way above the crowd and look down on their fellow humans. It's strange how few of them are actually successful though.

I see people who are, by most measures, fairly smart fail at things all the time. People who have high IQs, advanced degrees, are well read, and have skills that aren't easy to acquire.

In fact, how intelligent you are doesn't seem to have that much effect on whether your life is a mess or not, at least in my observation. I know plenty of average people who are successful, and plenty of brainiacs who still live with their mothers, are single, and/or have poor health.

The only conclusion I can draw is that being smart isn't enough.
