Say "baby, you've been wearing those out, I wanna get you some new shoes...let's make it a lunch date"...if he ignores the warning of the worn out shoes, rejects you buying him new shoes, and doesn't want to go on a lunch date , then you have more problems than just the shoes.

Pamper him first with a gift of a fancy pedicure in a fine salon. Examine his feet closely yourself and make sure his nails or corns and such aren't hurting him. Be sure his feet are not causing him any discomfort. Have a podiatrist check them. And, have a chiropractor assess his feet too, and posture and skeleton. Many times, people cling to certain shoes because they are the only footwear that is comfortable due to foot or back problems, especially people who are over-weight or work hard physically. Men can be quite oblivious to their feet, not take care of them properly. And, they hide their pain. They can be very stoic. If someone is incompetent about foot and shoe hygiene, step in and compensate all the while teaching a little at a time, such as using anti-fungal powders, salt foot soaks, proper shoe sizes, cotton only socks, being sure to rotate shoes and allow them to dry to reduce fungus blooms especially with athletic shoes, and to air footwear out in direct sunlight at least once a week, etc.. People warm up, respond and connect more cooperatively when they sense that other people's intentions are focused on THEIR comfort, needs and well-being rather than focused on OUR needs and desires to fashionably shape them to suit our own visions, like dressing up dolls. Men don't like that. They get balky. Focus on his comfort and adapt to his tastes. From there, new shoes are easy.

I took my boyfriend shopping, pointed out a pair of shoes, and said, "Why don't you try those on? They look great. I'll be glad to buy them for you. You need some new shoes." He tried them on, they looked great, and I bought them for him.
Worked for me.

The old shoes would "disappear" from his wardrobe... When he is looking for them and is upset, suggest that maybe he should go buy some new ones, maybe even treat himself to a really nice, expensive pair.

If he is your husband/bf, tell him you have developed a shoe fetish. No sex till he gets new ones.
Look all gooey eyed at men wearing nice new shoes. You might get to like it. :)

I would secretly do something to the shoes he has now so that he HAS to buy a new pair. You know like slice the bottom so they leak water when they are wet or something like that, then he doesn't have a choice but to buy a new pair!
LOL!!!

Ask him if the ones he has are really *that* comfortable that he wants to wear them out. Tell him that he could hurt his arches if the bottoms of the shoes start wearing out weird.
