My baby slept through the night from 7 weeks and now at 13 weeks goes 8pm to 7am.
She also has a fairly good daytime nap routine.
I have not tried to give her any routine day or night but just gone with her and let her find her own pattern.
She is exclusively breast fed and again i let her find her own feeding pattern. Initially feeding on demand and now she has a nap feed pattern which is pretty much consistent every day.

We started a routine around 3 weeks. Around 7 weeks it stuck. We allow him to nap when he wants during the day and have a routine that we follow at night. At 3 months 2 weeks we are even starting to put him to bed awake at night and he falls asleep on his own and sleeps all night!

the common answer to that's 'in no way.' toddlers regularly sleep whilst they're drained, and start up drowsing longer at nighttime whilst they're able. maximum toddlers ARE going a somewhat longer stretch (3-4 hours or so) interior of a month or 2. If, although if, you have particular desires (i.e., older babies who've scheduled events so as that it quite is effectual to shift his naps to fairly set cases), then you definately start up the approach once you sense the could desire to realize this. at the same time as i've got not got any 'large books' to advise, i could quite advise against each and all the fairly some 'sleep education' books that sell the suggestions that a) toddlers could desire to be 'taught' to sleep b) insuficient/unscheduled sleep is the basis of all evil and c) *their* plan is specific to make toddler sleep on your chosen time table in short order. (maximum of those magic plans are some varient on 'placed toddler down and depart him to scream till he supplies up or passes out from exhaustion.')
