HH120-120090C It is off a Bolens lawn tractor. I need to know why it won't spark. Is it the Stator, Rectifier, Regulator, or the Solid State Coil? The magnets seem to be fine and the gap between coil and flywheel pins is set at .025. No spark!

I have checked the crank key - it is fine. One post on the flywheel was lower by about 3/16 of an inch so readjusted it so that both posts were the same. I've cleaned the inside of the flywheel because it was grimey. Still nothing. I check spark by holding plug to top of head while spinning motor with electric starter.

Try removing the black stop wire. It may be grounding out and killing the spark. If you still have no spark after removing the wire, your coil is in need of replacement.

It is either the ignition module or the ground/kill wire. Disconnect the ground wire from the ignition module and try the spark test again. A repair shop can test the ignition module. Also the stator etc. has nothing to do with the ignition module. It is for the charging system. I am not sure what you are talking about when you say that the gap is .025. Is that the ignition module to flywheel gap? Might be too wide. You can check the ignition module with a mulitmeter but I don't have the readings but you can get it checked and probably for free.

Sounds like you may have rust on the magnets on the flywheel and or coil. Try cleaning with sandpaper. Also make sure the key is not bent ( key that goes onto the crankshaft and flywheel )
