They need to give them more room then a 20 x 20 cage... thats just rediculous. If zoos are to stick around, they need to respect these animals much more. The types of animals they have there need to feel like they're in the wild, or they will make any attempt to try and get out.... its just natural insticts.
Us humans have them too.
Imaging your in a 10 x 10 room for years... you would want to get out too by any means necessary.

I'm really upset with the Zoo authorities....why they don't have their own security staff to deal with this incidents.... specially after knowing that this has happened in the past. I will blame the Director and Board of Directors of the Zoo. They need to implement safe security systems and use some kind of arms or guns for the animals that won't kill them. VIDEO CAMERAS... ALARMS TO NOTIFY when this animals are out of range... Zoo security Fail.... and brought the BRUTAL SAN FRANCISCO POLICE DEPARTMENT one of the worst police departments in the US .....
I personally think that it wasn't fair that the poor animal was killed. i understand that people were scared and that lives were under risk, but that isn't fair. These animals have the right to act the way they do. being locked up in captivity, well, i would do the same. but killing them after their acts is not the best thing to solve the situation.
If it were was a good security system in the zoo this shouldn't had happened . yes, accidents happen, but then all these leads to the zoo's fault

I saw thje NEWS Broadcast but, as of yet they haven't figured HOW the Tiger got out. That wqould be MY FIRST question.
I would think that would be their first question also and go from there. I am sure there are ways of NOT ALLOWING THIS TO HAPPPEN AGAIN! (self-closing cage doors?)

It was a shame he had to be shot but what were they supposed to do? It's not like they could tell him to chill while they go get a tranq gun. This was an unexpected emergency. That cat went to great lengths to get himself out and he was not in a very good mood. It's not fair for anyone to blame the cops.
